2016 LAP School - Introduction to Labor Assistance Professionals: Programs to Approach Workplace Problems

The course Introduction to Labor Assistance Professionals: Programs to Approach Workplace Problems is the beginning step of a process that culminates with certification as a labor assistance professional (LAP-C). This course covers information for unionists interested in assisting union brothers and sisters in the workplace who are suffering from personal problems.
Course topics include:
- An introduction to MAP/EAPs, including their history and structure
- Addiction and its treatment, prevention, and intervention
- The use of benefits and the parity law
- Legal issues, Drug Testing, and Pharmacology
- Ethics, EAP/LAP Models and Bullying
This course has been evaluated for college credit through SUNY Empire State College. The credits may be used toward an associate (A.A. or A.S.) or bachelor's degree (B.A., B.S., or B.P.S.) from SUNY Empire State College when you matriculate as a degree-seeking student.
To receive college credit for the course it is necessary to attend every class session in its entirety. Class begins Sunday evening at 7 pm and ends Friday 11 am.
