  • (Conference is Cancelled) Conference Update, April 22
    Updated On: Jul 06, 2020

    April 22, 2020

(Conference is Cancelled) The LAP conference committee, along with the executive committee officers and founder convened by conference call today at noon to review the status of the 2020 LAP conference.

There are still many questions without answers. We need additional information from state governors and unions representing LAP members whether or not it is safe to hold a conference in July, and whether or not unions will authorize travel for their members to attend. As of today the conference is on schedule and we will keep you posted if anything changes.

Our next conference call is scheduled for May 21 and we hope to have more information at that time. We thank you for your patience.

    March 20, 2020

    Dear LAP members and Afriends:

The 27th Annual LAP Conference is scheduled for July 19-23, 2020 at the Tropicana Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada. The latest news reports as of March 20 show most Las Vegas hotels, including the Tropicana, closing for at least a 30-day period and then reevaluating the situation at that time. What does this mean for us?

Considering the COVID-19 pandemic, the LAP national executive committee has been monitoring the situation daily to ensure that the organization is responding appropriately. This event is an evolving situation, and we want to assure everyone that the health and safety of our members, friends, and their families is our highest priority.

On March 19 the LAP executive committee convened by conference call to discuss the impact of COVID-19 on the conference, our members and the LAP organization. Also, participating on the call were LAP Founder Ted Mapes and Conference Committee Chair Tom Cole. After discussions with Tropicana management, and as of today, the conference is still on schedule. If anything changes, we will post a notice on the LAP website and contact members by email. In the meantime, we encourage our members and exhibitors to continue planning attendance at the conference by registering and reserving a room on-line as you would normally do. In the event of a cancellation, all LAP registration fees will be promptly refunded back to you, and the Tropicana will refund first night room deposits based upon their normal cancellation policy which is at least 48-hours prior to the arrival date.

Thank you for your support of LAP during these trying times. Together, we will weather through this public health crisis and emerge stronger as an organization.

    Regards and best wishes,

    The National LAP Executive Committee
    Ken Morse – Chair
    Bill Troy – Vice Chair
    Jack Freckman – Past Chair
    Cale Steines – Treasurer
    Al Abromitis – Secretary
