The next LAP School is scheduled for Sunday, March 16 through Friday, March 21, 2025, at the Conference Center at Maritime Institute, 692 Maritime Boulevard, Linthicum Heights, MD 21090.

The course Introduction to Labor Assistance Professionals: Programs to Approach Workplace Problems is the beginning step of a process that culminates with certification as a labor assistance professional (LAP-C). This course covers information for unionists interested in assisting union brothers and sisters in the workplace who are suffering from personal problems.
Course topics include:
- An introduction to MAP/EAPs, including their history and structure
- Addiction and its treatment, prevention and intervention
- The use of benefits and the parity law
- Legal issues, drug testing, and pharmacology
- Ethics, EAP/LAP models, and mental health
To receive credit for the course it is necessary to attend every class session in its entirety. Class begins Sunday evening at 7 pm, and ends Friday at 11 am.
The all-inclusive tuition fee is $1800.00 and includes single room lodging, all meals, all course material costs, and transportation to and from Baltimore International Airport (BWI). The fee breakdown is as follows: 1) Maritime cost, single room, meals, etc. $1500.00. 2) Class materials $300.00.
At the school, a credit card is required at check-in for any incidental charges incurred during your stay. Incidental charges will be charged to your credit card at check-out if no other arrangements are made.
Please Note: All persons attending the school must submit an online registration form at the link below. Once the completed form is submitted, you will be provided with fee payment options by credit card, check or money order. Credidt card usage will incur an additional processing fee. To avoid this extra fee, please consider mailing a payment by check or money order.
